i personally feel like slow mornings with ken come after having a night of fun.. ifykwim.

that being said though, he’s always extremely soft with you. & he’s doing any & all work so you don’t have to move all that much.

you guys spend almost two hours just laying in bed, talking, rotting.. well you’re mainly doing all the talking but ken is listening intently. he could tell exactly what you were saying ten minutes ago, without any fail. it’s so cute.

when you finally decide you wanna get up, ken makes his way to the bathroom first so he can put toothpaste on both of your guys toothbrushes.

ken will also fully try to speak to you as he’s brushing his teeth, it never makes any fucken sense but he refuses to stay quiet.

after teeth brushing, he’ll help you wash your face & then he’s on his way to make you wtv you’re feeling for breakfast.

okay no my true fav moment was the orchestral arrangement of if you have ghosts. it put me in such a throwback to the first ghost ritual I attended in london when he took time to introduce each band member just as ghoul. 5 years later and on another continent, it is an even more beautiful arrangement of the song. The band members were 2 cellists and a grand piano player—I couldn’t tell if the woman to the far right was playing a theremin or vocalizing—if anyone knows can you tell me?

the skeletons picked papa up at the stage right mini stage and had him like crowd surf on top of them all the way back to center stage it was AWESOME?? I hope they got a cool overhead shot of it for the recording.

they definitely knew we were all anxious he was dying tonight and there were many moments where papa faked us out that he was dying. after the first or second song he made a comment like “ah we are quickly approaching the end of this era” and later when he told us to “not be sad it’s almost over, you’ve had a good fucking time and then it must end” I couldn’t help but think he was talking about more than just the concert

on a related note, when the skeletons first came out in twenties they circled papa and I think it was a deliberate fake out/homage to when he ascended in mexico city last year when the nuns circled him.

has a very aesthetic cozy room. When Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli moved in, （she was 12 and xiao was 10 , zhongli was 20 at the time, Ganyu is currently 21 , Xiao is currently 19, Zhongli is currently 29） she took her time, hanging her fairy lights, carefully placing all her comfort plushies on the shelf. She recently placed polaroids of her and her S/O in a heart shape, of course with her S/O's assistance. Helped Zhongli and Xiao decorate their rooms. (Xiao used to have those giant wall stickers yk? yeah he used to have one of spiderman, dont tell anybody) Has a neatly stacked pile of work papers. Zhongli

Very beige and vintage. He just has a lot of shelves. Like a lot lot. He collects teapots, and just interacts with chat while sipping tea. If he's lucky enough to get a donation, he spends it on new tea sets or tea that his chat chooses. But the tea set choosing has rules!! Rule 1 is no NSFW (if nsfw teacups even exist), Rule 2 is no Gore(if that even exists), and rule 3 is has to fit the budget. “jaemin, your coffee.” you turn to see the barista again, this time holding a cup of coffee, no it doesn’t even look like coffee, more like straight up poison. you watch in awe as he happily accepts it and takes a delighted sip.

“ah yes, i’m finally awake.” jaemin smiles brightly. “what were we talking about again? oh right, your soulmate.” you look down at your wrist again, and this time, it displays 0. 

“it’s you!” you exclaimed, as if you had an eureka moment, spinning around to face your true soulmate, the barista. 

he scoffs before walking back to the counter, you following closely behind him.

“took you long enough.” he said, you leaned on the counter, watching him make another cup of coffee.

“why didn’t you say anything if you knew?” you questioned, your ego slightly bruised. 

“it was cute listening to you rant about not being able to find your soulmate, and then realize that they would be in this cafe. the one you come to about every single day.” he turns around and hands you an iced coffee, just the way you like it.

“how long have you known?” you sipped curiously.

“about 2 months? give or take.” he then hands you a cutely made cat cupcake, he sees the way you perked up after given food.

“wow, you really have some good self-control, if that was me, i’d not be able to hold myself back.” you happily munch on the yummy treat, getting some frosting on your top lip.

“yeah, i can tell.” he leans in, wiping the frosting off your lip, handing you a napkin, you feel your face heating up. “oh hey, jaemin owes me $5.” the boy suddenly remembers out of the blue.

“for what?” you finish the cupcake and throw the wrapper in the garbage beside him.

“i bet that you wouldn’t guess it was me.” he smiles to himself, seeming pretty proud of himself. you huffed. “i’m still pretty surprised you had the guts to go up to someone to ask though, congrats.”

“aghh, i just don’t know why you wouldn’t tell me, and just watch me go up to someone and be wrong! what kind of soulmate are you?” you really feel embarrassed, but at least now you know who your soulmate is.

“well, why didn’t you think it was me?” the boy asks you this time. you feel your face hot again, and you turn around, not wanting to face him. 

“i thought you were too handsome and i was too nervous to be around you.” you mumble. you had secretly been crushing on him for a while, before you figured out that your soulmate would be in the cafe every single time you were there. but after finding out, you thought he was way out of your league and completely disregarded him.

“what did you say?” he leaned in closer to try and hear you better, but very obviously teasing you. “i didn’t quite catch that.”

“you heard me, dummy.” you pouted, grumbling as you crossed your arms. 

“i thought you said i made you nervous, what happened to that huh?” he laughs, teasing you further.

“well, now i’m not because i know you’re my soulmate.” you catch lisa looking at you, puzzled at what is unfolding in front of her eyes. you sent a pair of thumbs up to reassure her. “anyways soulmate, you got a name don’t you?”

“it’s jeno, it’s also on my name tag, do you not pay attention to me at all?” jeno pouts, making you swoon a bit.

“i know your name! i just wanted to hear you say it.” you try and defend yourself. jeno laughs at how easily you are worked up. “so, soulmate, does that mean i get free food here now?” you wink at him as he looks at you in disbelief.

“that was my hard work for these 2 months, i could’ve given that cupcake to me to treat myself.” jeno complains. “and i’m really hungry right now.”

“hmm, are you sure?” you try again.

“no.”

“please?” you look at him with wide and sparkly eyes you know he can’t resist.

“negotiable.” he crosses his arms, facing away from you as he blushes.

Ok so i just finished watching sherlock in complete after watching it like wayyyy back when in 2014 tumblr era with the reichenbach fall and everything. So after finishing it i had some thoughts about the general fandom discourse and i thought who better to ask than char! Ofc ur not obligated to answer this!!

So as i finished it i thought john and sherlock’s story ended in THE most canon way possible? Watching i was honest to god going holy shit they didnt— they did that holy shitt?? Like they killed john’s wife, gave them a kid and basically ended it by saying yea john and sherlock lived together happily with a child forever and like also solve cases together this is their life now. And i was genuinely pleased with the outcome i felt it was the best way to handle that while giving the fandom everything it wanted! Then… i came online and found out that sentiment was NOT shared at all and i was baffled to say the least! So i was just wondering why that is? I feel like im not in the sherlock loop enough to deduce this on my own.

Hi anon! Sorry for the late response. I'm slowly going through asks on here after not having been on Tumblr super actively for a hot minute.

This is a bit of a complicated question (as most things are with Sherlock). But I will do my level best to answer is as comprehensively as I can.

I think there are a lot of elements at play in terms of how people perceived series 4 in general.

1. S4 breaks a lot of the rules that all the previous series set in place for the worldbuilding of Sherlock, and the way it's grounded in reality. It also has moments that feel out of character, too. (All of this is for a reason, but I will get to that.) Even things down to the cinematography have changed in a subtle ways, and feel off because they're meant to. But that means that in small and large ways, it upset many viewers. Sherlock's deductive reasoning skills are almost exaggerated in a superhuman fashion which makes things more unrealistic; John treats Sherlock overly poorly at times in ways that can feel out of character; Mary dies in a way that is physically impossible, and that physically impossible death is even mentioned in a previous episode as being unrealistic; everything about The Final Problem is absurdism to the extreme, with Eurus practically being from the X-Men; etc. etc. There's tons to point out. It doesn't feel like BBC Sherlock in quite a few fundamental ways, which a lot of people picked up on either consciously or subconsciously, and thus were upset by.

2. With the caveat that I did not feel this way personally: a lot of queer fans felt disrespected because they expected/wanted Johnlock to become canon, and then it wasn't, and then in the end Mary's voiceover added insult to injury by saying "Well, you listen to me: who you really are, it doesn’t matter. It’s all about the legend, the stories, the adventures." Many queer fans took that very personally, as if the narrative was telling them that it doesn't matter who you are and it doesn't matter who these characters are, or something. I will fully admit to you I don't fully understand why people took that to heart so strongly, and I don't think that was the intent at all, but that was a big part of the backlash as well. Combine that with how the end felt like ~the end of the show,~ and yet so much about S4 felt dissatisfactory, and it was just a clusterfuck of emotions for many people.

All that being said...

You saying it ended in "the most canon way possible" is very interesting to me, because you've hit the nail on the head, perhaps without fully realizing it.

The whole show–and series 4 in particular–exists as commentary on Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories, the Johnlock hidden between its lines, and Watson's unreliable narration. I talked a bit about that in this thread here. To make my point in this post, I'll post an excerpt below:

People read ACD Watson's stories and go "Why are all these details wrong? Did he just not care?" People watch s4 and say the same. But what comes next will expose the answer: false narratives were necessary for their safety because they're in love. For canon era, what threatens their safety is homophobia/heteronormativity in society at large. For the show, Moriarty and Mary are the personification of those things and force Johnlock apart; defeating them will lead to accepting and being open about the truth of their relationship. This is why the writers say they thought everyone else was "getting it wrong" & it's about the relationship between 2 men. BBC Sherlock a standalone story, but in wider context... it's commentary on Holmes and Watson in general, and illuminating hidden depths in ACD's canon.

To explain a bit further... basically, for a century, people have been pointing to ACD's stories and trying to make sense of the inconsistencies in Watson's writings to little avail. Details contradict each other, or salient points seem to be left out; this is also the case of series 4 and is part of the point. The prime theory about series 4 that I agree with / that aligns with my reading of it is that series 4 is unreliably narrated by or told by John Watson. It's often referred to as "blog theory" as shorthand, because the idea is that the show has become the blog. (I have reblogged some relevant posts tagged "blog theory" here)

Series 4 acts as commentary on John and Sherlock as characters, and as crucial commentary on Watson's unreliable narration in the original ACD stories. Why would Watson (or in our case, John) have had to hide or meddle with details? Well, maybe for the sake of their safety, as queer men in a time that would not look upon that kindly. This is what the show (seemingly, if we're correct) intends to convey and highlight by bringing these elements to the forefront, and by making Johnlock explicitly canon.

So when you say that series 4 ended in a way akin to the canon of the original stories, with John's wife dead and them solving cases forever (together with a kid)... you're correct. But part of the point is that there is more to their story, and for many, that feels insufficient whether they realize it or not. Sherlock series 4 show us a world where it's about the "adventures," where John and Mary are in love but Sherlock and John are at odds and in the end leave much unspoken, where the Holmes intellect is unrealistic, etc. to have people instinctively sense all of this is wrong and ultimately crave correction via re-centering Johnlock as the core of the story.

As Moffat said in 2014,

"I think we've always favored the characters, because that's the vivid thing in Sherlock Holmes stories. At the beginning of every Sherlock Holmes story, there are two or three pages of just Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson having a chat by the fireside. That's what people fell in love with. So we've always favored that. As we keep proclaiming to anyone who's not completely bored of it by now, it's not a detective show; it's a show about a detective. That's why it's a hit. That's why it's exciting." (x)

In the end of series 4, Mary says "It's about the legend, the stories, the adventures." But that's not what the creators think Sherlock Holmes canon has truly ever been about at its heart! So, why do this? They have given the general audience something that is, in many ways, unexpected but contains the elements that they would naturally assume they'd want... Mary dead, the Holmes siblings being soooo brilliant, it's only about the cases, etc... and they have done that to make viewers realize maybe that is not what they want, and thus make them understand the thing they DO want instead: Sherlock Holmes to be "the most human, human being," and for Sherlock and John to reach emotional catharsis together in a queer outcome.

Of course, you're valid Anon for liking the ending and not understanding everyone's dissatisfaction! I am genuinely happy you enjoyed it on its own merits in a surface level way!! And as I said, you're correct in saying that it aligns with canon in many aspects.

But a lot of people (consciously or unconsciously) expected/wanted this show to go beyond the (heteronormative) veneer original canon maintained for Holmes and Watson... partially because the show has been setting that up for years. And if they didn't want it before, after the weirdness of series 4, they especially will want it now. So–if we're correct–that is the very deliberate intention, and it's been set up to be subverted in series 5. Series 4 will be explained / have reasons for its existence, and in series 5 the true story will be told.

(The final words of Arthur Conan Doyle's original canon, in the order in which they were first presented, were "Someday the true story may be told.")

I hope that clears things up a bit, even though this explanation is fairly long and probably went in directions you didn't expect lol. how do u manage to write so much in such a short amount of time? I don’t ever seem to have the motivation or inspiration to write and they always come around like idk every month or so (exaggeration or not i don’t rlly kno anymore,,,) any tips or advice ? 😭

helloo~ to be honest i couldn’t tell you where my motivation comes from

for me, writing has always been a stress reliever and a reward for my day. i view it more as something i can relax and rewind with but here’s some tips i can give you :)

1. Know your limits

I know how much I can write in one day. I know that I can write up to 1-2k words a day in one sitting. This is possible through practice so don’t worry if you can’t write that much in one sitting.

But you should know how much you’re capable of writing. Doesn’t matter if you write 100 or 1000, just write as how you feel :)

2. Motivation and Inspiration comes from yourself

Yes, cheesy, I know lol but it’s the truth. If you genuinely want to write something, pull up a doc, brainstorm something, pull up a writing board on pinterest, talk to other writers about ideas!! And if all else fails, use the 5-second rule!

Count down from five and just type. Type anything that comes to your mind at all. Whether it be describing a feeling, or a person. Hell, write about how nice this character looks in a suit :D

Just make sure to start typing after the five seconds is over. And DO NOT prolong the five seconds with excuses or muddle your brain with counting. Just count and do it!!

(btw i use the five second rule on chores, asking ppl for help, and basically anything i need for motivation)

3. Don’t Stress About It

Writing should be fun!! It’s not meant to be draining or a hassle. (although sometimes it can feel like it lmaoo) But understand that sometimes you can just make the time. There is ALWAYS time in the day to do something. But you must track your habits and make sure to use your time wisely.

I’ll give you an example :)

When I was dating my ex, she would only be available in the evenings to facetime or just text in general. I enjoyed writing in the evenings or late at night since I was busy in the afternoons. However, I realized I had stopped in order to talk with her more.

I felt as though I couldn’t balance both my writing and her. I lacked motivation because I didn’t want to give up interacting with either. So I tried changing my habit.

I set my alarm for 7 am and woke up the next morning to write for exactly one hour. After that, I did it again and again until I got used to just getting up at 7 every morning to write and relax for the day.

There is always time to do something. My father used to say that “If someone really wants to do something, they’ll make the time to do it.”

I hope these kinda helped!! I think it helps I’m in the right headspace to write and be creative right now. So don’t compare yourself to others and think you have to write a lot!!

Remember it took six years just to write the first book of Harry Potter! So just work at your own pace :D

1. SAMMM. Dean was acting off the shits, so he had to step up and exasperatedly handle everything, and piece stuff together. Like mans is actually quite smart and quite resourceful when he has to be, and it's nice seeing that. It's also fun FINALLY seeing him lighthearted again, even if I don't like how.

2. Dean's guilt complex. Man internalizes a lot of things, and while they BARELY make sense(thin veneer, easily cracked) he hides it enough so that no one asks(and he represses so he certainly doesn't), and he can continue feeling guilty. Now here's the thing. He feels guilty, Sam doesn't, the middle ground is where they should be(taking responsibility) and they like...never do it.

3. monster of the week. No but having monsters switch to grey instead of black and white, and having Dean comment on it is SO good, because he's like...that Masculine Parody/Ideal depending on who's writing him, and like he was written to be the hero. any gray was always overridden by that. But with kripke gone, they start actually doing grey, and there's nothing simple anymore. Like I like with how off the shits it got, they still kept the theme of "it's more grey now" but like kinda for real(where Dean and Osiris said the same thing). ALSO, I think it would be useful as a scale back. I know they'll not do it because EVEN BIGGER DBZ LAZER is fun, but I think having more monsters of the week by choice and not "oh god we have runtime" would be really good, because that's where this storyline SHINES! it's got a lot of characters, a lot of lore, and a lot of issues to pick through, a monster of the week is WAY more effective than a longer story, and would help the scaling back issue.

4. pontificating about the season/why it's easier to watch. Like is this season as good/vibey? probably not really, but honestly I can actually stand watching it. Like it's very cringe in places but also, it doesn't hurt me or make me feel uncomfortable as kripke stuff does. It matches the vibe of "after work/school show" perfectly for what it is.

5. the vibes/Osiris. I like the idea of osiris and going to the bars, and the courtroom and the RED! SAND!! I got that one. But I'd also like to say that Dean saying the SAME thing that osiris said was like...he's not villainized, but I think they're trying to make him slowly grow as a character. It's like sympathy/he sucks kinda/we like him for him a sa character and I think that was really neat.

6. it felt a little bit like excusing tho. Like if Sam is the good one, then it felt like excusing them of the harm they cause people. I want them to change their behavior! not beat themselves up over it or think it's fine cuz he went to hell because of it!

7. J O. the "no autonomy, he's making me do this," the being able to see through things(and no longer hungering for something that she doesn't really know) (like...she wants SOMETHING, has it crawling under her skin but doesn't know what, and that's gone when she's dead) and that whole thing where she asked Dean if he wanted to die as a persona. Oh my god.

8. Dean persona. Yeah the whole thing where he had to convince himself to be a womanizer, the "I"m 90% crap line" OH MY GODD THAT HIT. That man is also a persona. maybe a commentary on american masculinity in general, maybe not. Also, eldest daughter syndrome, he internalizes everything and everything is his responsibility("I didn't get a childhood")

I feel like you can also make an argument how trauma makes you the extreme of something(uncaring for smol sam, internalizing for Eldest Dean), and it breaks your ability to do what you need to(empathetically do your fucking job and not be pieces of shit).

I see why this show was so popular amongst mentally ill people(myself included) holy christ

I uhhh had my second wet dream in my entire life and it was a mix of arousing, weird, and funny. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did lmaoo.

So this dream was about me getting spit roasted by Geto and Gojo, with Geto at the uhmmm front and Gojo at the back I guess. It started in a car, idk whose, and they were just going at it. Like the car was visibly bouncing. Good shit, I tell ya.

At some point, Geto took off my glasses and started slapping me with a shit eating grin on his face until I started crying. Sometime during all that, I commented on their junk. I don't remember exactly to whom, but my dream-self thought "Wow he's only three inches in and it already hurts". After a while of just casual spit roasting, Geto says, "We should continue this inside the house, so we don't get caught". They get out of the house, but we were all butt naked and visibly aroused, with Geto carrying me by my left arm and Gojo holding me by my left leg while I just ragdoll (which I find absolutely hilarious, like we'll be seen by the neighbours you idiots. Did they even lock the car? Who knows! They aren't even carrying me correctly lmaooo)

We get into the house and we continue immediately on top of a carpet. The carpet looked really expensive, it was red and had a really nice design on it. Anyway, after a bit (sorry I'm not really good at explaining this), Geto looks down at me with a gentle smile asking, "Why are we positioned like this", which I assume meant "Why are you sucking my dick and Gojo railing you from behind". I hesitate to answer and continue to suck a bit while Gojo's still having the time of his life back there. I take Geto's dick out of my mouth, stroke it a bit while I think of an answer, and say very shyly "Because I like the way Gojo fucks me" (Gojo's my main btw). Geto and Gojo look at each other for a sec and with another gentle smile, Geto pulls away and sits next to us.

And then Gojo just goes to town, like he's destroying me relentlessly, pounding me into this expensive red carpet.
